This month’s featured NatuReef® aquarium is a 137 gallon reef tank. The tank was originally set up in July of 1998.

System information is as follows:

Lighting - 2- 175 watt 10k metal halide bulbs, 4- 90 watt VHO florescent tubes.

Skimmer - Cheapo wooden air stone type skimmer with a total length of 1.5 feet.

Wet Dry Filter / Denitrifer - 10 gallon NatuReef custom made sump and CDECX-1 denitrifer with zero phosphate and trace feeder options.

Water Replacement System - NatuReef®’s automated freshwater make up system. This system consists of an electrical water level switch connected to an RO filter with a solenoid valve. This system maintains the water level in the sump automatically.

Calcium Additions - NatuReef Alkalinity Plus and Hardness Plus dripped in with a SF2 solution feeder.

New tank pictures as of 1/24/99  Here is a picture of our new 3' x 3' cube tank.  This tank was set up in July of 1998 and is doing great.   I left the picture in a large format so you can see the detail.  This tank has a simple filtration set up with a NatuReef denitrifier and a small skimmer. Its about 130 gallons and has 4- 3' VHO blues with 2 -175 Watt 5500 K halides.  It has no trace feeder or Calcium feeder.  Note the big derasa clam in the lower right hand corner and the huge xenia growth on the front glass and rock in the middle.

About a year later (9/14/99) we took this picture notice the acroporas and alot less xenia.  The big center rock with all the xenia was removed to make room for the acraporas.
