NatuReef's® Featured Tank # 10...

Rob & Eva's Tank at Coral Seas Pets

The 10th featured NatuReef® aquarium is a 150 gallon reef tank. This tank has been set up for five years . The filter is a standard sump with a custom made square skimmer. Custom made cabinet and lighting hood. The evaporated water is manually replaced with RO kalkwasser made up with NatuReef® Calcium Hydroxide.  The substrate is a 2 to 3 inch thick fine grade reef sand. This tank is a great example of a thriving reef that is fairly low tech.  Rob does have some pretty bright lights.  Two 400 watt metal halides with 2 six foot VHOs.  Rob uses all NatuReef® brand products and has had nothing but hands off success.

Stats on their setup:

Filtration Sump, NatuReef® Denitrifier and a home made protein Skimmer
Lighting 2-400w 6500 metal halides and 2-6'  VHO actinic bulbs.
Temperature 77 degrees with the help of a small chiller.
pH 7.9-8.2 Average pH is around 8.0.
Phosphates - 0 ppm  
Nitrates - 0 ppm Kept at zero with a NatuReef® denitrifier and plenty pf live rock.
Calcium 420 ppm NatuReef®'s Reef Former Powder dosed manually helps maintain pH.
Water Changes Rob talks about changing small amounts of water but I've never seen him do it.

Another giant Acropora grown from a small fragment.  Fragment city.  This part of the tank is the farm area. 
Tridacna derasa clam this one over 10 inches long New fragments growing. note the blue tips near the bright lights.
