This time we show you... Fish - Fish and more Fish!

Here is what's possible.....

NatuReef's Featured Tank # 3...

This month’s featured NatuReef® aquarium is a 180 gallon reef tank. The tank is owned by Frederic Kirsch of Florida. He does no water changes and still maintains nearly zero nitrates and phosphates thanks to his NatuReef® cyclic denitrifer. Trace elements and iodine plus are added by a 2 channel NatuReef® doser.

Calcium and alkalinity are maintained by NatuReef's® dosing system feeding our super concentrated two part solutions Hardness Plus and Alkalinity Plus.

Fresh water makeup is done by a NatuReef fresh water feed system float switch and an 8 gallon tank custom designed by Natureef®.

All systems are monitored by an octopus controller.

Lighting consists of 3-10000k 175 wt MH and 2 160 wt actinic bulbs.

The tank has been up and running for 4 and a half years.

If you have any questions contact Frederic direct at DOLFANONE@aol.com or ask us at NatuReef@juno.com.

Additional System information is as follows:

Water Replacement System - NatuReef®’s automated freshwater make up system. This system consists of an electrical water level switch connected to an RO filter with a solenoid valve. This system maintains the water level in the sump automatically.

Trace Feeder - NatuReef® model TF-2A. This trace feeder is connected to the denitrifier's digital controller. Each time the denitrifier cycles the trace feeder drips 0.5 ml of Iodine Plus and Iron Plus into the tank.

Denitrifier - Model CDECX-3 with phosphate control and trace feeder options.

Note the Harlequin Tusk Fish at the bottom of this picture. That's a fish you don't see in a reef tank everyday. This is the left side of the tank.

9

A Cuban hog fish with his back to you. Most people shy away from keeping these in reef because they like to eat so much. No problem with the right filtration and denitrifcation.

11

My God! It's full of fish.

How does Mr. Kirsch do it? Advanced aquarist knowledge and the filter room. Chiller, plenty of bio media, carbon, mechanical filtration, automatic dosing of Iodine Plus, Iron Plus, and Hardness Plus and Alkalinity Plus. Note the denitrifier on the right side of the picture.
